39th Annual Bethlehem Fish Fry Set For July 19

New This Year – Free Children’s Game Area With Admission

Performances by 5 Points Swing and the Bethlehem Bluegrass Band

BUMCWith a huge children’s game area free with admission this year, all-you-can-eat catfish and bluegrass music, the Bethlehem United Methodist Fish Fry is Friday, July 19, helping support church mission projects including Kathy’s Backpacks for area school children.

Bluegrass music and the smell of fresh, farm-raised catfish will soon fill the air for the Grassland community’s largest annual event, the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Fish Fry, on Friday, July 19 on the shaded church grounds at 2419 Bethlehem Loop Road in Franklin off Hillsboro Road.

In its 39th year, BUMC minister Ryan Bennett said the Bethlehem Fish Fry is a good old-fashioned social with great food helping support church missions. This year there is the exciting addition of a free children’s area with admission and the big band, 5 Points Swing, playing as well as the Bethlehem Bluegrass Band.

“With never frozen before, all-you-can-eat farm raised catfish, we have amazing music, a huge children’s area with incredible inflatables and games, the best bake sale around and silent auction, you don’t want to miss the area’s biggest event for fun and fellowship. We are expecting almost 3,000 of our neighbors with the proceeds helping to support several church missions including our River of Life youth mission project and Kathy’s Backpacks program helping school children across our county with much needed fall school supplies and backpacks,” Bennett said.

The pretty Garden Emporium will be back again. Sponsored by the church Garden Angel Society, the emporium features a variety of hand-made products including soaps with Jewel Weed, a natural antidote for poison ivy, charming note cards with dried flowers, printed cards featuring an original water color by member Sonny Woodruff and small decorative birdhouses – all created by the Garden Angels.

Over 1,400 pounds of pond-raised catfish will be served at the fish fry along with hushpuppies, sliced tomatoes, white beans and delicious cole slaw made from a secret recipe.  The incredible silent auction includes several great trips, beautiful artwork, home décor, themed gift baskets and more.

With bluegrass music, all-you-can-eat farm-raised catfish and an incredible children’s play area, the Bethlehem UMC Fish Fry is Friday, July 19 on the shaded grounds of the church off Old Hillsboro Road in the Grassland Area from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., 2419 Bethlehem Loop Road, Franklin (37069).  Tickets for adults are $10.00 in advance and $13 the day of the event. Children 10 and under are always $6.00 and children under 3 are free!  Hot dogs are available for children and a separate carryout serving area is provided.
